The internet is such an interesting paradox. You can find anything--literally anything--you want from the privacy of your home and yet nothing is private. Everything we do is watched, catalogued and probably used in some nefarious corporate scheme. (Whoa--sorry to go Michael Moore on you.) Although I do find it a bit disturbing that those who keep track of these things have every type of demographic information you need to release statistics on who is searching for Jon Stewart: 61% of queries are from girls.
Anyway, I like to visit Yahoo's Buzz Index periodically and see what my fellow surfers are looking for. It's pretty funny that there is a direct correlation between the most popular movies search and movies that came on television recently. For instance, last night my favorite comedy, "Dumb and Dumber" was on TBS and today it's the #3 movie searched for. You can always tell what movies came on television recently just by the Buzz Index. Also, it's a way to see what's popular right now. The fact that The Daily Show is one of the most popular searches shows just how much we all have in common (i.e. good comedy). Or maybe it's an indictment: I have mundane taste. Either way, it's interesting to sneak a peek into what the rest of the world is looking for.
