Diary of a Longhorn

I happened to have my laptop handy during the Rose Bowl game and decided to write down my thoughts throughout this exciting game. Here's your chance to get inside the head of a die-hard Longhorn fan...

5:15 That was hilarious! Will Farrell and Matthew McConaughey's opening for the game was classic. Will Ferrell holding the two Heismans on his shoulders--too funny.

5:25 Amazing. I didn't know that the Rose Bowl brought in helicopters to dry the field for the game. As Chase said, that takes lots of mullah. Of course, the bowl games are a cashcow for the NCAA. Each of these teams will take home over 20 million for their respective schools (athletic departments). The WSJ had an interesting article about this very topic just last week. Bowl games are more about ratings and ticket sales than matching competitive teams.

5:45 What a thrilling sight: a sea of burnt orange and thousands of hands lifted in the hook 'em horns. I'm sitting here in my Texas Longhorn's jersey feeling an overwhelming sense of pride, shared with my fellow Texan countrymen. That Texas flag is absolutely gorgeous.

5:50 What on earth was Reggie Bush thinking?! A shovel pass?! I mean, we Longhorns are grateful, but as Dan Fouts said, what a bonehead play!
