Aunt Stephanie now has a new address. We spent all day Sunday moving her into her new apartment on the north side of Spokane.
Before we started the moving-in we stopped by IHOP for some breakfast. Not wanting to leave DJ (her bright yellow pet parakeet) in the car, she put him in his sleeping pouch (yes, he sleeps in a pouch) and carried him into the restaurant. The pouch has a string on it so that Stephanie can carry it around her neck. Normally DJ is very quiet when he's in his pouch but sometimes he get excited and starts chirping (he's VERY spoiled). And of course DJ started chirping as we sat their in IHOP. Dad started teasing us by saying very loudly, "Do you hear a bird?!" "I hear a bird!!" Several fellow patrons started looking around when they heard the chirping and Dad's comments. This drew the manager to our table who assured us there were no birds in the restaurant. Mom, Stephanie and I could hardly contain our laughter at this point. We finished breakfast without further chirping and started to leave. As we left the table, Stephanie put DJ on her shoulder. We were just walking by the cashier when DJ started chirping again. The manager had her back to us and we heard her say to a fellow employee, "I think there's a bird in here! I can hear it!" But we were already on our way out the door...
...And on our way to Stephanie's new apartment. The two bedroom/bath means that now we have a place to crash when we're in Spokane. It often prevents us from staying late to visit friends because we have to drive over an hour to get home from Spokane. So now we have a nice place to stay. We spent several hours unloading the U-Haul and setting up all the furniture, etc. It's amazing to think that just 5 months ago Aunt Stephanie arrived on our doorstep with one suitcase. We actually had enough furniture in our shop to furnish a two-bedroom apartment. Most of the furniture is Grandma's and Chase's and it's a great start until Stephanie starts buying her own furniture. DJ seemed quite pleased by his new surroundings. God is good and we praise Him for blessing Stephanie with a new job, car and apartment -- all within 3 weeks. When He works, He works quickly!
